Shipping from Shenzhen and Guangzhou, China to Douala, Cameroon.
Shipping from Shenzhen and Guangzhou to the port of Douala
Departing from major ports in southern China, such as Guangzhou and Shenzhen, to the Port of Douala, the busiest gateway port in the Central African Republic, this shipping route has been increasingly adopted in recent years by clients engaged in the trade of electronics, home furnishings, and wholesale. As Cameroon’s economic center, Douala serves not only its domestic market but also neighboring landlocked countries such as Chad and the Central African Republic, thus requiring higher standards for door-to-door (DDP) delivery, stable customs clearance, and handling capabilities for battery-containing cargo.
The transportation of lithium battery-containing cargo is more complex than for ordinary cargo in terms of route selection, declaration methods, hazard classification confirmation, and packaging inspection. Guangzhou and Shenzhen have mature export environments, warehouses, and terminals with extensive experience in handling lithium battery cargo, coupled with stable direct shipping schedules to West Africa, making this route particularly suitable for clients requiring guaranteed transport safety and compliance.

Case Study: Shipping from Guangzhou, China to Douala, Cameroon | 15.25 CBM Cargo Including Lithium Batteries · Ocean Freight DDP Service

Project Details
Basenton Logistics recently completed a DDP (Delivered Duty Paid) shipment for a client, consisting of lithium battery products (15.25 CBM), from Guangzhou, China to the Port of Douala, Cameroon.
This shipment consisted of battery-powered products. Before export, the Basenton team assisted the client in reviewing relevant lithium battery documentation, including UN38.3 reports, MSDS, and packaging confirmations. They also communicated with the shipping company in advance regarding dangerous goods declaration requirements to ensure smooth booking. Before container loading, the team inspected the outer packaging for sturdiness, moisture protection, and securing to enhance the safety of the goods during long-distance sea transport.
Upon arrival at the Port of Douala, Basenton’s local customs clearance team took over, handling declarations, duty payments, and subsequent delivery arrangements according to Cameroonian regulations. Because the client opted for the DDP service, they did not need to handle customs clearance and taxes themselves; they simply waited for the goods to arrive at the agreed-upon delivery location.
Basic Information:
- Port of Origin (POL): Guangzhou Nansha, China
- Destination (POD): Port of Douala, Cameroon
- Cargo Type: Products containing lithium batteries
- Volume: 15.25 CBM
- Transportation Method: Sea freight + DDP (Door-to-Door, including taxes)
- ETD: October 18, 2025
- ETA: Approximately November 25, 2025
